After running a competition to rename Breakfast and After School Club, we renamed it 'W.O.W Club', after an excellent suggestion from Isla in Chatsworth class. W.O.W stands for 'William of Walton', which refers to William Harding, who was a yeoman from the hamlet of Walton who left a trust in his will to clothe and educate the children of the poor from the local area in the 1600s. We particularly liked this link to the history of the school, as well as the fact that the clubs really are 'WOW!'.
W.O.W is part of our school and is supported by a team of play leaders from both within the school and Pre-school. Through our provision we provide care and education for children aged 3 years to 11 years through our Breakfast Club and After School Club.
This opens at 7.45am and pupils can socialise and have breakfast in a relaxing and fun environment. Members of staff take the pupils to school for registration, ensuring they get to class on time.
For breakfast, the children are offered brown and white toast with a selection of jams, Marmite and honey. We also offer breakfast cereal and fresh fruit, along with milk and water to drink. Children benefit from our home-from-home environment where they can start their day feeling relaxed and ready for school.
After School Club
The session begins after school and finishes at 6.00pm. Children are collected from the Infant and Junior buildings at the end of their school day and are escorted to the After School Club which is held in the hall. There are a wide range of activities and games available, both inside and outside, to keep your child entertained. Staff are aware that the children have had a busy day, so they ensure that alongside numerous, stimulating activities, children also have the opportunity to enjoy quieter play.
Children enjoy a light tea, for example; sandwiches, crumpets, tea cakes, toast, fresh fruit, cheese cubes, vegetable sticks, flapjacks, yoghurts, wraps, beans on toast, soup, cous cous and scones. Children can eat when they arrive and this is a great opportunity to discuss their day with trusted and familiar adults. Please note that the tea provided is intended to keep the children going until they have their main meal at home with you.
We also welcome pupils who do not attend William Harding School. For further information please telephone 01296 398822 or email email@example.com
