Why Attendance Matters…
At WH school, we believe that every day counts!
Regular attendance is essential for children to:
Achieve their best – lessons build on each other, and missing even a few days can make learning harder
Build friendships and confidence – children feel more connected when they attend consistently
Develop good habits for life – punctuality and commitment are important lifelong skills
Feel happy and secure – routine and consistency support children’s wellbeing
Every Day Makes a Difference
Even a small amount of absence can add up:
95% attendance = nearly 2 weeks of learning missed in a year
90% attendance = around 4 weeks missed
Below 90% is considered persistent absence
Missing school regularly can affect a child’s progress and confidence.
Working Together
We know there are times when absence is unavoidable, such as illness.
However, we ask families to:
Send children to school every day when they are well enough
Avoid taking holidays during term time
Inform the school promptly about any absence
By working together, we can give your child the best possible start in life.
Our Commitment
We are committed to:
Supporting families to improve attendance
Helping children feel safe, happy and ready to learn
Celebrating and encouraging excellent attendance
