The Governing body of William Harding is the schools accountable body and is responsible for the conduct of the school. The Governing body is therefore responsible for establishing the strategic vision & aims, target setting and financial budgeting. They work as a team with the Headteacher to support in raising the standards of the school and acting as the 'critical friend'.

Please note that any complaints or concerns raised to the Chair of Governors will always be referred back to the school to be actioned at the informal stage of our complaints procedure. Therefore, please ensure you have spoken to staff before contacting the Chair.

The remit of the Governing Body:

• Setting the school’s vision, ethos and strategic direction

• Appointing and holding the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils

• Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent

The term of office for a School Governor is 4 years, there is no upper limit on the number of terms a school governor can serve at William Harding.

It should be noted that all school governors at William Harding School are DBS checked (formerly called CRB).
