Houses of William Harding
We believe that team work is a vital part of our school and as one of our School Values Collaboration is key to our success as a community. We encourage our pupils to be proud of their House team in which they are part of.
Houses are allocated when pupils join our school and children are awarded house points for demonstrating good attitudes and positive learning behaviours.
Children collect house points on a weekly basis and these are counted up by our pupil Trustees and the winning House is announced and celebrated in our weekly assembly. House point totals and the winning House is displayed on our main boards in the main building and in the KS1 hall.
Children also work together as a House team during PE lessons, Sports days and other team events. The Sports Day cup is awarded to the winning House.
Our Houses are linked to our location and have a special importance to where our school is based;
Nightingale - This House is named after Florence Nightingale who was famous for being the ‘Lady with the Lamp’ who organised the nursing of sick and wounded soldiers during the Crimean War, Florence Nightingale's ideas influenced healthcare. Click here to find out more.
Rothschild - This House is named after Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild who wanted an estate where he could escape London in the summer months to entertain family and friends. The Vale of Aylesbury is known as ‘Rothschildshire’ for the number of the houses owned by the family in the area. Click here to find out more.
Guttmann - This House is named after our local Stoke Mandeville Stadium and the home of the Paralympic Games. This was founded by Sir Ludwig Guttmann who was a neurosurgeon based at the National Spinal Injuries Centre at Stoke Mandeville Hospital. Click here to find out more.
